Description
Martinů's String Trio No. 1, which originated at the turn of 1923/1924, was lost until 2005! The trio is the first composition after he became a private student of the French composer Albert Roussel. After it's premier, Martinů asked his friend Stanislav Novak to mind that "the scores that were played so they would not misplaced somewhere" because he had no sketches or copies of them. But his fears became true - the only existing copy of the trio was lost. Thanks to the research of the Bohuslav Martinů Institute, the manuscript of the trio was found in the fall of 2005 in the Danish Royal Library in Copenhagen.
